I will be riding across the US on a Montague MX folding mountain bike, re-outfitted for road touring. Why not a road bike? Because this was what I had already, and could not afford to replace it with a more touring-oriented bike. I particularly like the bike its self, and it has the added advantage of being able to fit into the trunk of a car if necessary.

Things I have added:
Brooks B17 saddle
Axiom Journey rear rack
Old Man Mountain Sherpa front rack
XLC Multi Functional Trekking Bar
Michelin Wild Run'R 26x1.4 tires
Planet Bike Full Fenders
ESEG Two-Legged kickstand (not shown)

Other equipment
MacBook Pro 13"
Lightroom 3 (later upgraded to LR 5)
iPhone 4
Canon 60D
Canon 50mm f/1.4
Canon 85mm f/1.8
Gorillapod SLR Zoom w/ Balhead
New Trent iGeek 9900mAh battery pack (Later upgraded to NT Power Pak Extreme 12000mAh)
Osprey Orb backpack
Kelty Coromell 25 degree sleeping bag
Hennessy Scout hammock (this was left home at the last minute for space reasons)
Military Surplus Gore-Tex bivy sack
Thermarest Backpacker 3/4 sleeping pad
Topeak Alien II 26-Function bike tool
Hawkins Classic 2 Liter pressure cooker (never used as a pressure cooker)
GSI Outdoors 8" frypan
Coleman Apex II white gas/unleaded cook stove (running on unleaded is wonderfully inexpensive)
